The Banco A Ristoro

You don't have to take part in anything to sit down: you can come just for a drink, just to eat, or just to be here.

There's a word here that has gone back to being whole. In Italy, «bar» was coined in 1898 by Alessandro Manaresi, a Tuscan entrepreneur who gave his place the full name: Banco A Ristoro, the counter where you stop for refreshment. At the Renny it's still called that, and it's the shortest way to say that stories from the past aren't decoration here.
At the counter you drink Italian. The cocktails are built around labels that have a story, from the same era the place is set in, and there's sprayed wine, grape juice and malted barley for those who prefer it.
The furniture
Each piece comes from another life
The chairs, the armchairs, the cinema projector, the lamps: everything in here has a story behind it, or had been forgotten somewhere before it was taken in.
Some of these pieces are for sale, so you can take a piece of Renny home. If you like one, just ask.
